Artist's Comments
John Uskglass is one of my two fav characters from Susanna Clarke's novel-JS & MN(or I should say he interests me the most); the other one is Childermass.
With a black feather holding by his hand, the nameless slave from Northern England has been described as a young, pale and powerful magician who gave a typical vision in charged of ravens; for these imaginations characterized by the the author, I tried to paint the legendary king with darker, heavier colours to represent this shadowy and mysterious ruler of magical era...(not sure if I make it or not) This one is the first pic of JS & MN series portraits, I hope I can depict diffrent works of The Raven King(from other short stories) and more characters who I'm fond of in the novel. |
